Her Secret Prince (Royal Holiday #2) by Madeline Ash

Book Blurb:

At sixteen, Dee Johnson gambled her heart on her best friend Jed Brown – and lost when he disappeared without a trace.

Ten years on, Dee’s life is uprooted when Jed turns up on her doorstep, asking for her help.

Dee has been left behind by everyone she’s loved: her parents, her close friend Alexia, and a stream of lovers. She moves fast with men and suspects this is why they move on fast. Now that’s Jed’s back in her life, she’s taking no chances. Despite the attraction ripping at her seams, she holds back, knowing she wouldn't recover from being loved and left by him a second time.

A constant traveler, Jed has only felt at home once in his life – with Dee. Now that he’s found her again, he's determined to make up for lost time. He'll never leave her again.

Until an unexpectedly royal revelation threatens to strip Jed of his freedom and future – including his place by Dee’s side.

My Review:

Her Secret Prince by Madeline Ash is an entertaining, wonderful addition to the Royal Holiday series!

I liked how Madeline led us into the book, seeing Dee and Jed when they were teenagers, what was happening and what happened that set the ground work for their future.  It was fun to catch a glimpse of teenage love, and with unexpected events and heart break, Madeline pulled me right in to Her Secret Prince.

I really love Dee!   She's had her heart broken many times over the years and always feels like she's being left.  She hides her heart ache well though...and is very realistic about who she is and how she is with men...she just can't help herself.   She is spontaneous, fun, open and takes chances.  She is someone who I'd want as a friend, her personality is so great.   When Jed reappears in her life, she is honest with him about how she feels, but in a sense of self preservation tries not to act on her feelings.  She's not sure of Jed and why he's reappeared now, when he could have looked for her much sooner.  Jed is harder to read than Dee...I felt like he was just as confused and cautious, just in a quieter way than Dee.  But despite why he came to her, now that he's found her again, he wants that second chance...

The whirlwind circumstances surrounding them are unique with a fantastic fairy tale feel that makes Her Secret Prince stand out.  I was excited to see what would happen and how Dee and Jed would deal with not only their relationship, but the other unexpected events that could pull them together or push them apart.

The length of the novella is perfect for the story being told, and Madeline's writing is smooth and catchy.  I'd recommend Her Secret Prince to any romance reader looking for an entertaining escape into a feel great, second chance romance.
