Synopsis

Merrick Thatcher went through a hell that no one could possibly imagine. He fought to protect his country, his family, and the men standing at his side, but it wasn't just being a soldier overseas that changed him. He watched his friends die in front of him, felt indescribable pain, and lost his sight in the very same moment.

Badly injured, blind, and angry, he's done with war, but now he’s fighting his own battle. So, he’s waiting for it to end, spending his days and nights in a thick darkness no light can penetrate. Until Grace walks into his life and his broken eyes open to a woman that changes everything for him.

A story about two flawed souls finding love amidst the grief. A love that shines vividly, even in the dark, and discovering that sometimes being broken is how the light gets in.
For readers 18+ due to language, violence, and sexual situations

Like many other foundations, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides assistance to injured soldiers as well as their families. SOWF also focuses on one of the most important challenges those families face; 'getting to their hospitalized loved ones as quickly as possible'. With grants immediately provided to the family, they can travel to be bedside with their loved one, especially for those crucial first days. SOWF also provides a scholarship program, family services (including clinical social workers, scholarship counselors, and family services counselors). With on-going support and helpful counseling to all families of fallen members in every branch of the military, they are able to help in all the ways that count. The SOWF was highly recommended to me by a recent veteran who served in Iraq. Therefore, I am thrilled to be able to help them in any way possible. Every little bit counts.

Author Bio

I live in Morgan, Utah with my husband, beautiful daughter, and a couple of spoiled pups. If I'm not deeply involved in writing my next book, then I'm probably reading in the safety and quiet of my closet. I love yoga – which I now practice regularly – playing hide and seek with my daughter (only to have my hiding spots revealed by one of the pups), and I love Fruit by the Foot, Twizzlers and Peace Tea. These are great ways to bribe me into revealing secrets about what's to come.
I have an unhealthy obsession with Supernatural, The Walking Dead, and The Big Bang Theory. I also enjoy talking about them, so if you like them, too, come find me.
Writing has become an enormous part of my life and every book I write holds a special place in my heart.  If you read one of my books, I hope you have the same experience.

Review: Midnight Fire (Men of Midnight #4) by Lisa Marie Rice

Book Blurb:

Jack Delvaux is alive
Summer Redding thought the blindingly handsome jock who'd loved and left her years ago had died in the Washington Massacre. She grieved for her lost golden boy as the rest of the country mourned their dead—until she comes home to find a very alive Jack Delvaux waiting for her with a devastating secret that turns her life upside down.
No longer the carefree man he was in his youth, this Jack is dark, hard and dangerous; a fifteen-year veteran of the CIA hungry for answers…and hungry for her. The rich, good-looking charmer who broke her heart once before would have been easy to resist, but this man, this powerful man? Summer needs him, and he knows it.
When Jack's mission uncovers evidence of government involvement in the Massacre—and plans for another attack—he's primed for revenge. But he has more than vengeance to live for now, and when Summer's life is threatened, it's nearly Jack's undoing. Someone taking shots at his woman? That's a dead man walking.
My Review:
In Midnight Fire by Lisa Marie Rice, I was quickly submersed into a world of intrigue, political corruption, and an unexpected second chance.
This series is superb, and Midnight Fire is no exception. Midnight Fire easily picks up a plot thread from the conclusion of Midnight Secrets, and takes us into Jacks' world. Jack is supposed to be dead, but when Summer recognizes him and finds out his story, she is drawn into an evil side of the world right along with him. Summer and Jack have an old history together, but it's one Summer has never forgotten. It took her a long time to get over Jack, and she is determined not to be drawn to him again. Soon they are racing against time together to stop a plot that will destroy everything they know... And as this is happening, Summer is seeing the man Jack is now, not the young man he was all those years ago. Things start to heat up quickly when not only do they recognize the feelings they both have, but suddenly they both find themselves in imminent danger. Jack will do whatever he can to not only stop the terror, but to protect Summer. Will they be able to? Will they get that second chance?
Jack and Summer are a powerful hero and heroine, and they make Midnight Fire an exciting read. Summer and Jack have a past together, and they are brought together again in Midnight Fire. I liked the maturity of both of them and how they dealt with things, from their relationship to the events taking place in Midnight Fire. They are a realistic couple, and the big bumps in the road of their relationship are realistic after what they had in the past. I liked seeing Jack today, and reading about the changes in him through Summer's eyes. He is edgy, a bit dark, intense, and a man on a mission! Summer is just as determined as Jack to do right, and the adventure the two of them are on is heart stopping. I felt like Summer and Jack could be a good couple, they seemed to balance each other well - the chemistry and feelings are definitely there!
I liked the dual POV's that Lisa Marie writes with in Midnight Fire, this gives a well rounded perspective of what is happening through out Midnight Fire. Midnight Fire is very suspenseful. I didn't have a clue about the enormity of the plot or what could potentially happen right away, and this created a fantastic build up, amping up the anticipation of what's to come. It is the type of plot that you don't see coming and there is the feeling that something like this could really happening, so the little niggle of fear sure gets the heart pumping! I liked how Lisa Marie created a strong suspenseful plot along side a strong second chance romance. It is a good blend, especially with these characters.
Summer and Jack are definitely the main characters in this book. You will see characters occasionally from other books in the Men of Midnight series, and I would recommend reading at least Midnight Secrets (#3) prior to Midnight Fire since we meet Jack's sister and see some of Jack in Midnight Fire.
Very well paced with a captivating plot, I'd recommend Midnight Fire to any romantic suspense reader.

4/5 stars

Flirting With Fate by Jerrie Alexander release blitz and review!

Flirting With Fate
by Jerrie Alexander
Series: A Noble Pass Affaire Novella
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Cover Designer: Misty Dietz
Release Date: September 15, 2015

There is no such thing as accident; it is fate misnamed.
-Napoleon Bonaparte

Elle Reagan isn't about to stand by and let a con-artist get away with stealing her grandmother’s life savings. While the legal system moves at a snail's pace, Elle promises to bring him to justice. She follows him to a ski resort in Colorado, where she hopes to get the evidence needed to put him away for good. But she didn't count on her roommate being a distraction, because he wasn't supposed to be her brother’s best friend.

Detective Logan Ford has denied his desire to take Elle into his arms since they were teenagers, but when his partner asks him to follow her to Castle Alainn to keep her out of trouble, Logan finds himself unable to refuse her. He agrees to help catch a thief instead of convincing her to pack her bags and go home. To make matters worse, he can’t seem to remember why he should keep his distance from the delectable, infuriating, independent Elle.

Elle and Logan surrender to their attraction, but as their passion ignites, her plot is discovered. A killer will do whatever it takes to silence her and destroy a love that was destined to last a lifetime.

Logan's willingness to support her, to help her right this wrong, touched her heart. For him to agree so easily spoke volumes. He was doing this for her. Deep down she'd known it for years. Had she and Logan been in love all this time and ignored or refused to admit it? Had fate given her the chance to answer that question?
"Thank you." She slid her hand across the table palm up. He wrapped his fingers through hers and squeezed.
"Let's get to it." Logan asked for the bill, signed it, and then stood.
She took his hand and walked to the elevator. The doors had closed when Elle remembered Nicki's request. "What do you think Nicki wanted?" Elle laughed when his right eyebrow lifted. "Besides your body."
"My money. I suggested that I might be disappointed in my current investment strategy."
"Smart. You should call when we get to the room."
"No. Let her wait. After Liam and Alana turn them away, I'm willing to bet that I'll become a serious target."
"If they come after you, anything you learn can be used against them. Right?"
"Right." Logan slid his card key into the door lock.
"Then I hope that works, even if it requires exposing you to that female piranha."
Logan glanced over his shoulder. "I'm touched that you'd worry about me."
"You misunderstand. I worry that you'll fall under her spell and slip up," she said, walking past him into the suite.
His laugh followed her. She loved the quick and hearty sound. It made her knees weak as hell.
"Okay, smart girl. Get out your laptop." He pulled his cell from his pocket. How could he switch from oozing sex to serious detective mode in the blink of an eye?
Elle set her laptop on the bar, turned it on, and waited for it to boot up. Logan was still on the phone when the program loaded. He winked at her. That simple gesture sent her heart dancing in her chest.
"What's your email address?"
She answered him and then retrieved a coffee pod, dropping it in the dispenser and pressing the on button. Not that she needed the caffeine. Her nerves were already spring boarding around her body like a kid on a trampoline.
"Fix me a cup too, please."
"What do we do next?" She selected another pod and waited for the first cup to finish.
"My friend is sending a program for me to install on your laptop. It's top of the line and should open your stolen files." Strong hands slid around her waist, pulling her close.

I am really enjoying the overlying theme of the Noble Pass Affaire novellas, and Elle's win of a week at Castle Alainn is no different - with the action, mystery, and heat that Jerrie weaves into the story.

Elle and Logan have known each other for a long time, but Ella is like the forbidden apple to Logan.  She's his best friends sister.  Off limits.  When Logan ends up trying to keep Elle out of trouble for her brother, the heat between them is finally acknowledged and it's smoldering!  I liked that once Elle and Logan finally recognized their feelings they didn't play games.  The speed of their new type of relationship was believable because of the history they have, even if it is through Elle's brother.  They are both loyal and honorable people, I loved the dialogue between them, and I felt like they made really good main characters in Flirting With Fate.

As they are exploring this new type of relationship, Logan also suddenly finds himself helping Elle on her mission...which is proving to be very dangerous.  Can he help keep her safe and find the truth at the same time?  I enjoyed the suspenseful part of Flirting With Fate, because Jerrie weaves in some very unexpected plot twists into it.  I liked that she caught me off guard, and managed to give Flirting With Fate a very unique flare!

Well paced and easy to read, Flirting With Fate is a great novella to escape into that I'd recommend to romantic suspense readers.

A student of creative writing in her youth, Jerrie set aside her passion when life presented her with a John Wayne husband and two wonderful children. Her love for romantic suspense inspires her to write alpha males and kick-ass women. Her characters weave their way through death and danger to emerge stronger, because of, and on occasion, in spite of, their love for each other.  If they’re tough enough, they live happily ever after.

Jerrie lives in Texas, denies having an accent, thrives on sunshine, children’s laughter, sugar (human and granulated), and researching for her heroes and heroines. She loves to hear from her readers. Find a complete list of her books at http://www.jerriealexander.com or contact her at jerrie@jerriealexander.com.
