My Review:
The plot and characters of To Love a Texas Cowboy really touched me. With humor, heart, and a lot of hope, Julie writes a tale about significant life changes, finding the positive, and finding the unexpected at the best time.
I really liked Ty and Cassie as the hero and heroine in To Love a Texas Cowboy. They are so different, and who knows if they'd even be in each other's worlds if not for the extraordinary circumstances they find themselves in. Cassie, Ella's Aunt, has significant changes in her life that she in no way can prepare for when she suddenly becomes guardian to orphaned Ella. I really felt for her, because I really felt like no one understood what she was going though. Not only was she suddenly guardian to a little girl as a single parent, she'd lost her sister, and had to up root her New York life to move to Wishing, Texas. I didn't feel like Cassie was given enough credit by those around her, and this really made me want to stand in her corner and praise her! Even her career has had to take another path...and Cassie handles it all the best she can, even if it is a huge struggle and stressor for her. Cassie came across to me as brave, strong, smart, and she tired hard, never giving up. Cassie's character went through tremendous growth in To Love a Texas Cowboy, and I liked going along with her on this journey.
Ty was a bit hard to like at first. He is Ella's financial guardian. He also comes across as very judgemental of Cassie. He is stubborn and serious, and his character goes through even more growth in To Love a Texas Cowboy. Ty and Cassie have no choice but to interact. The attraction to one another is something neither expects or really wants at this time in their lives. To me it felt like these characters really helped each other and unwittingly drew strength from one another. Whether they wanted to acknowledge it or not, they are good for each other.
Ella is a sweet child who pulls Ty and Cassie together...because she is the most important part of this story. Ella is the common denominator between Ty and Cassie. The unexpected, turbulent relationship that develops between them is realistic with the ups and downs they go through, and very intense. Can it last though?
I just really enjoyed this story. The complexities of Cassie, Ty and Ella's lives are ones that easy found their way into my heart and made me really feel for these characters and what all of them were going through.
Julie's smooth style and well paced writing made To Love a Texas Cowboy really pull at my heart and it was an easy to book to fall into and feel a part of. I'd recommend it to any romance reader!
